Voice Services include all
local and long distance carrier services such as Centrex,
long distance, calling cards, 800 service and voice mail.
Calling Card Services requests are automatically
routed to the vendor for Qwest calling cards. The appropriate
analysts first review orders for cards requested from all
other common carriers.
Cellular Services are not automatically routed to
a vendor. Once approved, you can print your order and provide
a copy to your selected vendor.
Paging Services are not automatically routed to a
vendor. Once approved, you can print your order and provide
a copy to your selected vendor.
Data/Video services include Ohio SONET contracted
services, Video and Wide Area Network.
Non-SOMACS Private Lines are primarily regulated
data services but can include radio circuits, ISDN, foreign
exchange and tie-lines as well as packet switching.
In-House Wiring service should be selected for any
cable construction or major projects. Keep in mind that
this service is subject to a competitive procurement process.
Minor wiring changes needed in conjunction with a regulated
service, such as Centrex lines installation, can be ordered
in the LEC portion of your TSR.
LEC stands for local exchange carrier. This is the
local service provider for telephone dial tone or local
access circuits. Use this option for ordering Centrex or
measured business lines. The TSR system automatically routes
the orders to the appropriate LEC based on the first six
digits of the master station. Insure that you use the full
ten digits in the proper format such as 614-466-0000.
Analog Centrex is used for telephones, fax and computer
modems. Not available in all areas of the state. Measured
business lines are a more expensive alternative.
Digital Centrex is available in Ameritech's major
metropolitan service areas. Provides full feature functionality
with digital telephone instruments.
PBX/Trunks provide connectivity from a private branch
exchange to a local or long distance service provider. PBXs
are used in many institutions. The trunks often connect
to the LEC for local service and an IXC for long distance.
Business Lines are a more expensive alternative to
telephone service in locations where Centrex service is
not available.
Long Distance
Qwest is the contracted long distance carrier for
the state. Orders placed to Qwest are automatically routed
to the vendor, bypassing your assigned analyst.
Other PIC (primary inter-exchange carrier) is used
when requesting long distance service from a carrier other
than the contracted IXC.
PIC Change to Qwest is selected when you have existing
service with another long distance provider and want to
change to Qwest. This option auto routes the order to the
appropriate LEC to make the PIC change and to Qwest to add
the account to their database.
Qwest 800 service is for switched inbound at contracted
rates.
800 Service OCC (other common carrier) provides for
orders for inbound long distance from a carrier other than
Qwest.
ACD (automatic call distribution) is a call processing
system that forms a single queue to the next available operator
rather than put a caller in queue to a specific operator
that may be handling a time consuming call.
OIT ACD is automatic call distribution services offered
on the OIT system.
LEC ACD is automatic call distribution services offered
by local exchange carriers.
OIT Feature Work can be selected if you want DAS
to set or update your Centrex features using Centrexmate.
DAS feature work is often used in conjunction with new Centrex
line installs. You need not select this if your agency has
access to Centrexmate.
OIT Voice Mail is available in Columbus, Cleveland
and Dayton at no additional charge. If you require voice
mail on business lines or Centrex in cities other than those
just listed, it should be ordered in the LEC portion of
your TSR.
Basic voice mail service includes 10-message storage.
Expanded voice mail service includes 20-message storage.
Expanded w/Paging voice mail service includes 20-message
storage and notification to a pager when voice mail messages
are delivered.
Auto Attendant is a menu driven call-processing system.
Contact your analyst for details of service.
Ohio SONET is a contracted
network for high-speed bandwidth to carrier voice, data
and video.
Analog Data Drop is a single segment (or computer
connection) on a multidrop analog circuit.
Multidrop Master Segment is the main leg of a multidrop
data path.
DS-0 64kbps
DS-1-AMI 1.544 mbps (Channelized)
DS-1-B8ZS-ESF 1.544 mbps (Clear Channel)
DS-3 45 mbps
OC-3 155.52 mbps
OC-12 622.08 mbps
OC-48 2.488 gbps
AADS (Ameritech Advanced Data Services) is actually
now known as ADNS. This is the non-regulated networking-providing
element of Ameritech.
ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) is fast, cell-switched
technology that serves as a transmission method for voice,
data or video.
Frame Relay Circuit is a transmission method for
data services.
GOSIP Router Protocols. Please specify the protocols
you plan to use when ordering wide area network service.
The checkboxes in this group allow you to order any combination
of protocols.
GOSIP Site Router Interfaces. Please specify the
type of connection you will use from your local area network
to the Network Operations router.
GOSIP Diagnostic Line is normally required when ordering
GOSIP site services. This allows the network group to diagnose
problems remotely.
OIT Video Services includes connectivity into the
state's video network, scheduling, switching and a host
of other support activities. It is important to remember
that a circuit is required with the video services and must
be requested in the Ohio SONET group of your TSR.
Video Network Connection (ATM) is video services
using an ATM circuit.
Video Network Connection (H.320) is video services
using a DS1-B8ZS-ESF circuit.
Packet Switching is an older data switching technology
that provides for transmission at slower speeds.
X.25 Sites are the packet switching customer locations.
X.75 Trunks provide connectivity among packet switches.
Private Line (misc.) should be used when ordering
data or private line services such as tie lines, radio circuits,
etc., outside of the Ohio SONET contracted services.
Analog Circuits include, but are not limited to,
analog data lines, foreign exchange and tie lines and radio
circuits.
ISDN-BRI. Basic rate ISDN (integrated services digital
network) provides a switched digital circuit that can be
used for voice or data.
ISDN-PRI. Prime rate ISDN (integrated services digital
network) provides a switched digital circuit that can be
used for voice, data or video with the equivalent bandwidth
of a DS-1.
In-House Wiring can be provided by DAS in the Rhodes
State Office Tower, Riffe Tower and State of Ohio Computer
Center (SOCC). The in-house wiring service should be selected
for any cable construction or major projects. Keep in mind
that this service is subject to a competitive procurement
process. Minor wiring changes needed in conjunction with
a regulated service, such as Centrex lines installation,
can be ordered in the LEC portion of your TSR.
