IGD, Statewide IT Policy, November 2006
The Multi-Agency CIO Advisory Council (MAC) Standards Subcommittee has formed a Server Standards Working Group to research, develop, and recommend state standards for server technology.
Chaired by Ryan Webb of the Ohio Department of Commerce, the working group is chartered with investigating areas where state server standards could provide enterprise benefits to the state.
Potential benefits to be investigated include cost savings, consistent implementation and management, improved support, and best practices. The working group, which currently comprises information technology professionals from nine state agencies and one state university, will hold its initial meeting on November 16, 2006. The working group is expected to complete its recommendations for server standards by mid-year 2007.
