Register of State Agency Information Technology Use Policies Implemented

Issue Date: August 21, 2006

The Ohio Office of Information Technology is now maintaining a register of state agency policies on the use of Internet, e-mail and IT resources. The register encompasses 87 state agencies.

In March 2006, Mary F. Carroll, State Chief Information Officer and Director of the Office of Information Technology (OIT), issued a cabinet memorandum announcing a revision of Ohio IT Policy ITP-E.8, “Use of Internet, E-mail and Other IT Resources,” which establishes controls on the use of state-provided information technology resources to ensure that they are appropriately used.  The policy requires state agencies to either develop their own IT use policy or adopt the state policy as its own, which they must then submit to OIT for inclusion in the state register. As a public record, the register will be made available for inspection to any individual upon request.
