Statewide IT Policy Begins Publishing OIT Procedures
September 2006
The Office of Information Technology, through the Statewide IT Policy program area, has established a program for the publishing of OIT enterprise procedures in a consolidated online listing. OIT enterprise procedures are being defined as specific steps or a course of action that state agencies and other entities external to OIT are to follow:
The project began with an examination of sample OIT procedures that have a cross-agency impact and continued by developing a standard format, a numbering system, and an authorization and publication process. These were then tested by piloting the publication of a new Service Delivery Division IT security procedure, OEP-SEC.4001, Statewide Incident Response Reporting.
The intent is that, eventually, the procedures established by the various programs in OIT as guidance to their respective constituents can also be cataloged and placed in a standard format as part of a “one-stop” official register of all published state IT-related rules, policies, standards, procedures and bulletins so that they may be found more readily. Convenient, direct links to the register can be found in the left-hand navigation panel on the OIT home page, www.oit.ohio.gov, and from the “State Employee” and “Government”>“Ohio Executive Branch” pages of the State of Ohio Portal, www.ohio.gov. View the register at http://oit.ohio.gov/IGD/policy/OhioITPolicies.aspx.
