Policy revision issued concerning the information technology policy authority of OIT and the State CIO
- IGD, Statewide IT Policy, September 2006
On September 6, Mary F. Carroll, state chief information officer and director of the Office of Information Technology, issued a revision of Ohio IT Policy ITP-A.1, retitled “Authority of the State Chief Information Officer to Establish Policy Regarding the Acquisition and Use of Computer and Telecommunications Products and Services.”
The policy revision achieves three purposes. First, it reflects the shift in Ohio Revised Code 125.18 of policy authority regarding the acquisition and use of computer and telecommunications products and services from the Department of Administrative Services to the Office of Information Technology. Second, it communicates the establishment and authority of the position of state chief information officer. Third, it establishes two new types of official state IT-related policy, the IT standard and the OIT enterprise procedure .
The revised policy is available online at http://oit.ohio.gov/IGD/policy/pdfs_policy/ITP-A.1.pdf.
This and all state IT rules, policies, standards, procedures, and bulletins can be found online at www.ohio.gov/itp.
