Enterprise Computing offers a wide complement of data center services across various mainframe and open platforms. This program is the platform operational entity of ISD, providing computing platforms, associated technology, computer operations, data storage options, technical assistance and database administration services. In addition, Enterprise Computing provides support and tools enabling customers to develop systems that seamlessly cross platform boundaries.
Enterprise Computing is divided into the following operational areas:
Mainframe System Services staff maintain the IBM mainframe system.This enterprise environment allows state agencies to develop applications without incurring the cost of maintenance and support of an IBM mainframe environment. The system is housed in the secure and stable State of Ohio Computer Center.
Windows/Open VMS Services staff provide facilities and system management for agencies that own HP OpenVMS computer systems and agencies that own Windows systems. In addition, this group manages the Kronos timekeeping software and Exchange/Outlook mail services.
Unix Systems Services staff provide Unix administration as well as SAN (Storage Area Network) services that allow state agency customers to develop applications and databases without incurring the cost of maintenance and support of a Unix environment.
Database Administration staff support database implementation and use. State agency customers depend on this staff to manage their database environments.
