Enterprise Planning Information Technology (IT) strategic and tactical planning in the state of Ohio has never been more complex or more essential. State agencies are increasing their reliance on IT solutions to meet Governor Strickland’s challenge to “Turnaround Ohio” to make State Government accountable by” Living Within Our Means, Investing In What Matters, and Demanding Results.” Rapid advances in IT have multiplied the opportunities for its effective application by state agencies. However, the increasing velocity of change, complexity and business dependence on IT has led to substantial increases in the typical size and risk of IT projects. A rigorous strategic planning process is the first step to mitigating the risk of IT project failures due to lack of alignment with the agency’s business plan, followed by tactical project planning and management to realize the benefits of carefully applied IT solutions and reduce technology risk. Enterprise IT Planning Office assists State Agencies in their planning process. Recognizing the importance of the state’s significant investment in technology, we are entrusted to manage public funds and information responsibly for the benefit of the citizens in Ohio and to promote fiscal responsibility on behalf of the best interest of the State.
The Enterprise IT Planning Office (EP) consists of two program areas: IT Planning and Communities of Interest. The IT Planning area assists State of Ohio agencies in the development of information technology strategic and tactical plans. The Community of Interest area assists agencies in collaboration and serves as the OIT point of contact for technology issues, requests for information, and initiative analysis.
